Am I still sharing?

One place answers this: the capsule across the top of the map screen. If there is no capsule, you are not sharing your Position (what other apps call your location) with anybody. If there is one, it says what is running.

Reading the capsule

Sharing · not sending	A session is running, and this phone is not feeding it.

The countdown always reports the session that ends last, so it answers “when do I stop being visible to anyone”. Reporting the soonest would understate it — someone sharing forty minutes with one Group and with no end time with another would be told they go dark in forty minutes.

What the countdown does and does not promise

A countdown is a promise that the thing being counted down is happening. So when the app cannot vouch for that, it takes the countdown away rather than letting it run on:

• Sharing · no position — the session is live and your Group still holds you as sharing, but your phone is giving the app nothing to send. Your friends see where you were, not where you are. What to check is on My own Position is not updating.
• Sharing · not sending — the session is live and this phone is not broadcasting into it. See Sharing · not sending.

In both cases you are still sharing. Neither is a state you have to restart, and the countdown comes back on its own once the app has something to send again.

The full list, one Group at a time

Tap the capsule. That opens a sheet with one row per Group you are sharing with, each showing how much time is left, and a way to stop any single one of them. It is also the answer to “which Groups can see me”, which the capsule only summarises as a count.

On Android, there is a second place to look

While a session is running, Android keeps a notification in your tray saying that FriendTrack is sharing your location, and which Groups with. It is not dismissable while sharing, which is deliberate — a live broadcast of your Position should not be able to hide. It also carries a stop control, so you can end sharing without opening the app.

If that notification is gone while you believe you are sharing, treat it as the more reliable of the two signals and open the app to check.
