Set a Meeting Point
A Meeting Point is one agreed spot, marked on your Group’s map, so that nobody has to describe where they are standing. It is the answer to where shall we meet rather than to where are you — and unlike a Position (what other apps call your location) it does not move and does not depend on anybody’s phone still reporting.
Set one
- On the map screen, open the friends panel and tap Set meeting point….
- The picker opens on a list of the map’s Areas of Interest, with a search box. Tap one to use it.
- Or tap 📍 Drop a pin on the map… and then tap the exact spot you want.
It appears immediately, marked with a flag, for everybody in the Group.
Who can set it
Any member of the Group, not just the admin. It is deliberately not a permission: the person who knows where to meet is whoever is standing there.
Setting a new one replaces whatever was there — see clear the Meeting Point for why there is only ever one.
What the Group is told
Everybody in the Group gets a notification when the Meeting Point is set, moved or cleared, and it names the place — near Beer Garden, or Beer Garden — Floor 2 where the Area has floors. That is the Meeting Point Changes notification category, and it can be switched off like any other: turn notification categories on and off.
It does not depend on sharing
A Meeting Point belongs to the Group, so it is there whether or not anybody is currently sharing. That makes it the right tool for the cases where a live dot is unreliable — a phone in a bag, a basement bar, somebody who has run out of battery. If you are arranging something that matters, set a Meeting Point rather than relying on being findable.
Which map it appears on
A Meeting Point is a spot on a Map, so it is drawn for the people looking at that Map. A member on a different Current Map does not see it until they switch — see which map a friend is on.
