If your subscription lapses

Nothing is deleted. Ever. If you made four Groups and three Maps on Pro and then stopped subscribing, all seven are still there, in full, and all seven come back the moment you subscribe again.

What changes is how many of them you can go on using while you are not subscribed: one Group and one Map. The rest are locked, and locked is not the same as gone. The app says exactly this, in those words: Nothing has been deleted. Pick the one you want to go on using — the rest stay locked until you resubscribe, and then they all come back.

What “locked” means

A locked Group or Map is retained in full — its members, its Areas of Interest, its image, its calibration, its Invite Code, all of it — and is marked Locked in your lists. You cannot use it until you either subscribe again or make it the one you keep.

Locking bites authoring and use, not other people. In particular:

A Map you published stays in the catalog. It stays listed, stays installable, and everybody who installed it carries on unaffected. Your lapse is invisible to them.
You can still use a locked published Map yourself as a Current Map. What you cannot do is edit it or publish a new Map Version of it.
Groups you were invited into are not affected at all. The allowance counts Groups you created. Somebody else’s Group is theirs.

Which one you keep

The app picks for you, so you are never locked out of everything while you decide: the one you used most recently becomes the kept one, for Groups and for Maps independently.

To change it, use Choose what you keep on the lapse notice. That opens a sheet headed Keep one group or Keep one map, listing everything you have, and you pick.

⚠️ The 30-day cooldown

You may swap the kept one at most once every 30 days, counted separately for Groups and for Maps. Between swaps the picker tells you the date the next one is allowed.

This is the rule most likely to look like a bug, so it is worth knowing before you meet it: it is not a fault and it is not something support can lift. It exists because without it a free account could rotate through unlimited content a day at a time, which would make the allowance meaningless.

Practical consequence: choose deliberately rather than experimenting. Swapping to see what a locked Map looks like costs you the month’s swap.

The one thing that is never cut off mid-use

A Group with a live sharing session is never locked out from under the people using it.

A session with a finite length of time runs to its natural end first. Nothing is interrupted.
A session with no end time gets 24 hours of wind-down, announced, so nobody loses sight of anybody without warning. Such a Group is marked Ends soon while that is running.

So a lapse in the middle of a festival day does not black out the Group everybody is currently relying on.

A worked example

You have Groups called Ski trip, Roskilde and Five-a-side, and Maps for two venues. Your subscription ends on the 1st.

On the 1st, the app keeps Ski trip — you used it last week — and the Map you last looked at. The other two Groups and the other Map are marked Locked.
Roskilde is the one you actually need in July. You tap Choose what you keep, and pick it from the Keep one group sheet. Ski trip becomes locked instead.
On the 10th you change your mind and want Five-a-side. The picker refuses and names the date — the 31st — because you swapped on the 1st.
In August you subscribe again. All three Groups and both Maps are usable again immediately, with everything in them intact, and there is nothing to restore or re-create.

What to do if you are lapsing on purpose

Pick the keeper before you need it, not on the day of an event, so the cooldown is not in your way.
Publish anything you want other people to keep having while you still can. A published Map survives your lapse; an unpublished one is only usable by you and the Groups you had already shared it with.
Export anything you want a copy of — download your data includes the Maps you made and their images.

What this is not

It is not deletion. If you want something actually gone, that is delete a map or leaving the Group, and both are deliberate acts.
It is not a grace period running out. A lapse is the ordinary end of a subscription; there is no countdown to a cliff and nothing expires further with time.
It is not something the free allowance does to a new account. Somebody who was never on Pro has nothing locked, because they never had more than one of each — the free allowance.
