Which floor a friend is on

Where a friend’s Position (what other apps call your location) falls inside an Area of Interest that has floors, the line beside their name names the floor as well as the place — 📍 at Building A · Ground Floor. Where the Area has no floors, or the app cannot tell which one they are on, you get the place on its own: 📍 at Building A.

Floors exist only where the person who made the Map drew them. A single-storey festival site has none and never will, and that is not something you can switch on from your phone. If you are making a Map yourself, add floors to an Area is the page for it.

The floor is worked out from air pressure rather than from GPS, which cannot tell one storey from another. That is accurate enough to separate floors and not accurate enough to be certain in a lift, a stairwell, or a building whose doors have just been opened — so treat a floor as a strong hint rather than a fact, and read the time beside it too.
