Who runs a Group
Every Group has exactly one admin: the person who created it, until they hand it over. On the Group’s member list they are marked 👑 Admin.
What the admin can do

The one that surprises people is the Invite Code: any member can invite. Growing the Group is not an admin privilege, which is why a code you were sent may have come from somebody who does not run the Group at all.
Hand it over
- Open the Group and find the person in the member list.
- Tap 👑 on their row.
- The app asks whether to make them the group admin, and warns that you will lose admin privileges. Confirm with Transfer.
It takes effect immediately, and it is not reversible from your side — only the new admin can hand it back.
Two things can stop it, and the app names which: you are no longer the admin yourself, or the person you picked is no longer a member. Both mean your view of the Group is out of date; reopen it and try again.
Why the role cannot simply be vacant
Somebody has to be able to remove a member and delete the Group, so the role always belongs to somebody. That is why an admin with other members in the Group cannot just leave: the app refuses, with Cannot Leave, and tells you to transfer admin to another member first. See leave a Group.
An admin who is the only member can leave freely — there is nobody to hand it to, and the Group goes with them.
What the admin cannot do
- They cannot make you share. Starting a session is yours alone, always, and no Group setting changes that.
- They cannot see you when you are not sharing. Admin is about the Group’s roster, not about visibility.
- They cannot read where you have been. Nobody can; there is no history to read. See what your friends can and cannot see.
