Notifications are blocked on this device
Your phone is refusing to show FriendTrack’s notifications. The app can tell, and says so at the top of Profile → Notification Settings: This device is blocking notifications, with the consequence spelled out — your choices below are saved, but nothing can reach you until notifications are allowed for FriendTrack in your device settings.
Why the app cannot fix it for you
Whether an app may show you a notification is your phone’s decision, not the app’s. FriendTrack can ask to be allowed and can notice that it is not, and that is the end of what it can do. So every switch on that screen is still working and still saved; they simply have nothing to act on until the block is lifted.
This is worth knowing because it makes the whole notification settings screen misleading otherwise: four categories switched on, and nothing arriving.
Allow them again
The screen carries Open Device Settings, which takes you straight to FriendTrack’s own entry in your phone’s settings. From there:
- On Android, allow notifications for FriendTrack. Check the categories inside that entry too — Android lets you silence individual channels while the app itself is allowed.
- On iPhone, allow notifications for FriendTrack, and check that alerts are permitted where you actually look: the lock screen, the notification centre, and banners.
Then come back to Notification Settings. The blocking notice goes away by itself once the phone starts permitting them, and you do not have to change anything in the app.
Two things that also block, and are not this
- Focus modes, do-not-disturb and bedtime schedules. The app is allowed and your phone is holding the notification back for now. FriendTrack cannot see these, so the blocking notice will not appear — it is worth checking by hand if notifications arrive at some times of day and not others.
- Battery optimisation. A phone that has put the app to sleep to save power may deliver late or not at all. Excluding FriendTrack from battery optimisation is the fix, and it is also what keeps a sharing session alive — see does it keep sharing in the background?.
If notifications are allowed and still nothing arrives
Then it is not this. Go through I didn’t get a notification — three of its six reasons are the app behaving exactly as designed, and one of those is very likely the answer.
